ok so the thing with MMOs, esp 14 b/c it’s so much more explicitly about pattern memorization, is that General Knowledge of how any fight works tends to spread very quickly followed by people expecting you to more or less know how things work etc etc. When you do something “blind” it’s without having any foreknowledge of the encounter at all, implying you haven’t looked up any guides on the encounter and probably want some element of Figuring It Out As You Go rather than being told what to do

so getting on immediately as the servers go up and doing new content with a bunch of other assholes who were also waiting for servers to go up but have no idea what to expect is always exciting / a much different experience from going in for repeat clears

(and then the sort of people explicitly waiting for Server Up tends to be, uh, slightly better than the general population and also finds it much funnier when you wipe to Unexpected Mechanics)

(so it’s a particularly fun way to enjoy new content)

yeah being able to accept failure more than usually def has like, a 3~4 buffer at least

but there’s a lot more laughter about failure the earlier you go in haha
