Xilai–I hope you are well, and that your garden grows well also. It occurred to me that, now that it seems that we may be moving on to Mu next (and not Valais, as I had assumed), that I have a question for you.
When we meet Yazhn Ravhi at last…is there ought you would have me convey to him?
Strange to think that you’ll be spending time there. It’s been so long, there’s so much I can’t remember but so much I know I can’t forget. Please be careful and wear clothing that covers as much of your skin as possible. Ask for cactus salve as soon as you find a Vehru to give you some. It helps.
As far as anything to convey to him… I don’t know. This feels like a Yazhn question. What does one say to someone whom you were supposed to meet and stand stalwart guard for but then never got the chance? It did not seem easy for Yazhn Daxht. The Yazhn of Yazhn, when I was there. Ravhi’s predecessor. I hope that Ravhi is burdened less by his office than Daxht was but, if he is… tell him that, somewhere far away from the Sun there is a Rohsu who has not put down the Work.

Well, for what it is worth…if it was me…I think I might be heartened to know that, despite our never having met, there is someone out there who keeps me in their heart, and wishes me well.
I shall tell him, Rohsu Xilai. I shall tell him that you have kept the faith. I promise.
Thank you, my friend. Travel safely and find shade.

Xilai,
I have conveyed your sentiments to Yazhn Ravhi. He seemed to appreciate them–was touched by your dedication and care.
I cannot in honesty say that he is less burdened by his office than his predecessor. It is an immense duty, and I can see why it would weigh heavily on his shoulders. The Work is long, and it asks much of those who perform it: to have hope in a future far off, while still trusting that the tasks performed now shall matter to its completion. In some ways, to care as deeply as he does about the Work and its completion is not an aid in maintaining that balance. But maintain it he does–though I hope that I have been of some assistance on that front.
I fear that the information we have uncovered will not ease his burdens. But I believe that he is strong. He will find his way through.
I hope all is well on the Beast. As well as can be, in any case, as the moons continue to fail. If there is ought else you would have me pass on–to anyone here, not just Ravhi–please let me know.

Wolf, my apologies. I’ve been up to my whiskers in work ever since we got news of the evacuation plans. We’re trying to get things all sorted here so we can help make sure the word gets out and people from the Reach can get to Queenstown in time and there’s a lot of garden to preserve as much of as I can.
Thank you for passing my message along. It’s not something I ever thought I’d have the chance to do.

Xilai–you have nothing to apologize for. What you are doing is far more important than writing a reply to me. My thoughts go with you, my friend. Be well…be safe.
