Warning To Anyone That Can Read This

So. Beast’s moons are a very clear countdown to whatever event(s) cause Alamchadta, Beast and Samudra to be destroyed as part of this cycle of rebirth and death that the universe is stuck in. And we’re down the two of those now, along with the travelers getting read to head over to Valais, aka the last known world. Which means the end of the world is upon us.

Which: pretty shitty thing to have to know it coming. However, the fact that we know it’s coming means we can also deal with the fact that the apocalypse is neigh. Anyone that can read this message should also be aware of the Gates that we’ve been making as we travel from world to world. These gates lead to a… void space of some kind. When you step through it you’ll be on a train platform, and perhaps the train will be there too. A little metal person drives this vehicle, and will lead you to a strange building with a single strange resident cat-like creature that likes to stay bundled under a pile of old leathers. He’s cool, and the building grows in response to gates to new worlds being connected to it. Weird, but, importantly, it’s a safe spot where people can ride out the end of the world.

Gather as many people as you can with as much food as you can, and head through the Gate to the ziggurat. (and to anyone worried: we’ve done some testing, and it seems like normal people CAN pass through it just fine. Even if there’s some side effects they’ll certainly be better than being on a world while it ends and keeps no survivors)

Is there a way to move the gate to a more convenient location for people on the Beast? Or make a second one? I think any one of the six of could do it, but I just don’t know how to get out of the Deepforge Cathedral. I figure maybe someone else might.

Any thoughts on how to get out of the leap-of-faith blow hole? That’s what’s stumping me.

worst case scenario i’m PRETTY sure i can clamber my way up it it’d just take for fucking ever. somehow my two pet idiots got out, i could beat them both in a rite and make them tell me how as the stakes i guess but the answer is probably unimaginably stupid

How much room is there in this– space? I know words are no substitute for measurements taken, but I’d like to begin planning for this and I know people will ask.

I can accession the memories of what it looked like the last time we were there, if you’d like? There’s an implication of almost infinite space; how much is habitable is something else.

Is the idea here one of us pops in the gate and you give us a piggyback ride here?

Honestly, no idea! As far as I can tell the ziggurat and immediate surrounding area go out for a couple of miles? There’s like, the outline of a city there right now, which might be more solid after Mu gets Gate-linked? And it’s in the void so there’s a chance there’s not actually any useful measurements and it’s all just vibes based and adjusting to perception as it goes.

Are you being facetious or is this genuinely something you and/or Aurelius and/or Awoken and/or some fourth weirdo could feasibly do to get out of there?

honestly it was on my list of possible options but i think carrying someone up the borehole would be much more dramatic

Put like that you make me sound silly. I guess I wasn’t sure how it would happen logistically. The gates between worlds did, as I recall, a fair amount of reality glitching and ascension. I didn’t know without those circumstances what your capabilities were, if they were capabilities Aurelius shared, who should go to the Beast to do this, &c.

Also sometimes I do see a problem and only think of the mechanical solution, not the metaphysical one. That’s what your Angel-of-Darkness ass is here for.

Caion came to me with a specific idea and I wanted to get input here as well: recording a welcome message to the incoming people and distributing it on memory-crystal rods. He suggested I do it, which I’m happy to do so as long as everyone else is fine with it, but we wanted input on what kind of things should be recorded. Thus far we have:

• How to find shelter (I believe we are separating out shelters based on planes in order to lower friction)
• Where food storage is located
• Likely how food will be accessed and distributed
• A brief overview of how to traverse the void safely (don’t step in the mud)
• A basic outline of the three planes that will be arriving, and who is in charge of whom.
• Some explanation of what is happening. I’m not sure how much information to convey. I could use some advice here (Jorule? I know you deal with secrets a lot)

I’m not sure what else should go on here, and wanted to workshop the general content.

definitely gunna want a cleaning area that is separate from the water source on that note so it doesn’t wind up contaminated (there IS a little lake near the ziggurat right or did i imagine that)

also to not attempt to go back through any of the Gates until they hear from their overseers.

idk how much you personally gotta explain then entire situation in a handbook but like, ‘shit’s dangerous back home, this is a safe haven to ride it out, bug your community leaders for more in depth information’ is probably as much as you need?

maybe a note not to pocket any giant pearl links they see rolling around? idk if Pearls would immediately parse as People to Alam/Beastians the same way naiad or kushtaka would (and metahumans to the samudrians… maybe a note about some of the most beastial Monsters not being threats tho….)

Yeah I was thinking of having a brief “these are the kinds of people you might expect to see” just because of … the Monsters and Pearls and … I’m not sure Spoken Wood would scare anybody, but might spare a few moments of bafflement.

Good call on not going back through the gates. I wonder if they’re a way to lock them to anyone other than us? I think “Things are dangerous back home and this is a safe place to ride the danger out.” Explaining the world ended and got … rebuilt? Can happen once people have to grapple with the rebuilt worlds.

There’s a little lake… now? There definitely was not one when I first arrived here, but it was bothering me as soon as I read that and I went and checked, and– I don’t know that I’d call it a lake. I suppose I don’t have a good frame of reference for bodies of water that are bounded in a reasonably well-behaved way in general! There is some water. It is seperate from, but ultimately fed by, the water coming from the ziggurat. I do not understand where that water is coming from in an absolute sense and when I try to understand it my head hurts, so I have stopped doing that and am, instead, doing other things.

If Jorule, or you, Caion, imagines a couple other little lakes at places were it would be convenient to have little lakes, do they pop up?
